Celebrating 25 Years!

Wine in the Pines Marks its Silver Anniversary

The year was 1983. CP of Colorado served approximately 65 individuals with severe disabilities in a sheltered workshop on Columbine Street in Denver. Referred to as the CP Center, it was an important fixture in the disability community and one where many families found the support they needed for their children living with disabilities. This is also the year that Mike and Margaret Smith, and their family, decided to provide much needed financial support to the CP Center, its Employment Program and the people we served.

Now celebrating its 25th year, Wine in the Pines has justifiably earned its reputation as the premier wine and culinary event of Summit County. This year will be no exception! Indulge in some of Colorado’s most savory cuisine prepared flawlessly by Keystone’s foremost chefs and paired with exquisite wines from around the world. This extraordinary gathering of culinary talents, discriminating wines and unmatched entertainment and atmosphere are all assembled to celebrate this historic 25th Anniversary. The Smiths and Wine in the Pines have generated financial resources to grow the employment efforts of the organization from serving 65 individuals in 1983 to serving over 4,000 individuals statewide living with a disability last year.

The Smith family is well acquainted with cerebral palsy and the abilities and gifts individuals living with a disability offer. Their daughter, Kelly, has cerebral palsy and she doesn’t allow it or anything else to stand in her way! She is successfully employed, is active in her Summit County community, is surrounded by dear friends and family and is a role model for others affected by disability. Kelly and her personal successes are the inspiration for Wine in the Pines!
