United Cerebral Palsy Colorado hosted an open house on January 28, 2010 to celebrate the completion of the7th and 8th grade additon for Vanguard Classical School (VCS). VCS 1st graders and the VCS Dance Team entertained community leaders and supporters from Daniels Fund, St. Mary Land & Exploration, Production Control Services, BBVA Compass Bank, Shaw and All-Phase Construction companies, Colorado State Bank and Trust, and UCPCO Chairman of the board, James Reuter (First Bank), board member Senator Penfield Tate, in addition to teachers, friends and staff of VCS and UCP.

Housed on the UCP Colorado Campus, VCS is an Aurora Charter Elemenatary K-8 School which opened in August 2007. Each classroom is supported by a team of two teachers and para educators whose primary purpose is to maximize each child's potential. To ensure a well rounded education for all students, VCS utilizes the Core Knowledge and Core Virtues Curriculum. In addition, VCS offers The Riggs Writing and Spelling Road to Reading and Thinking, Singapore Math, intensive hands-on science activities, Latin starting in grade one,Music, Art, and a wide array of physical education opportunites.
