volunteer opportunities

Thank you for your interest in volunteering at CP of Colorado. CP is always looking for individuals and organizations that would like to lend a helping hand. There are many ways you can volunteer. You can support Teachers on field trips, perform general maintenance work, assist with  office work or special projects or participate in one of our six special events held each year. Our goal is to best match your interests, talents and availability with the volunteer needs and opportunities of CP of Colorado. You can volunteer year round or for just for a few hours. Whatever you choose, we know your experience will be an enriching one and a big help to our organization and to those we serve.

Here are a few opportunities we currently need help with:

Classroom Aides
Creative Options: Centers for Early Education are looking for classroom volunteers to work with preschoolers 3-5 years old.  Read to children, get creative with art projects, help teachers on field trips, etc.  This is a perfect opportunity to be a positive role model in a child’s life.

Employment Mentors
Our Employment Works department is looking for volunteers to help support and provide tools to individuals with disabilities who are seeking employment. The focus is to support the job seeker with their employment goals. Mentors work with job seekers to search online for job postings, help fill out applications, write resumes, practice interviews, and most importantly, get the most out of the relationship!  Visit www.employmentworks.org to learn more about their services to the community.

Know How to Sew?  You Can Help!
The Infantile Scoliosis Outreach Program (ISOP), one of our Statewide Services programs, is looking for volunteers to sew "cooling vests."  Cooling vests are for infants/small children currently undergoing the casting process for their scoliosis.  These vests allow the children to go outside during the summer and help them live more comfortably in the heat of the summer months.  A photo of the vests can be found on the homepage of www.infantilescoliosis.com.  The vests take about 3 hours to sew and ISOP will provide all materials.

Database Assistant
Family Voices Colorado, one of our Statewide Services programs, is looking for a database volunteer.  Duties include calling contacts to verify database information, entering, updating, and finding new resources for database.  File and update handout materials as needed.  Experience with Microsoft Access a must.  Find out more about Family Voices Colorado by visiting their website at www.familyvoicesco.org.

Administrative Assistant
Guardianship Alliance of Colorado (GAC) and Colorado Citizens for Accountability (CCA) are looking for volunteers to help with their newsletter and to answer phone calls and questions about their programs.  Social Work background preferred.  Learn more about GAC and CCA by going to their websites at www.guardianshipallianceofcolorado.org and www.coloradocitizensforaccountability.org.

Landscaping
This is a wonderful opportunity for groups!  Perform various types of yard work including pulling weeds, pruning shrubbery, etc.
